If you didn’t know already I LOVE FOOD 🙂

Love creating new delicious but still healthy recipes that are simple and not too expensive.

Now I do like a burger and I LOVE chips but I wanted to add my own lil twist and have less unhealthy fat all up in there. So I decided to use turkey mince to create my burgers and sweet potato to create my chips. Let me just say ummmmm ummmmm DELISH you will never eat a beef burger ever again!!!

If you want to have a try at making these keep on reading 🙂

TURKEY BURGER INGREDIENTS

500g of Lean Turkey mince

1 or 2 egg whites

Half an onion

2 or 3 spring onions

2 Garlic cloves

Black Pepper, all-purpose seasoning (to your required taste)

Breadcrumbs enough to bind the mixture together ( you can take these out totally)

Coconut oil (to lightly cook the burgers)

PREP TIME

10-15 mins prep

25 mins to cook

COOKING TOOLS

A large frying pan

Spatula

baking tray

Foil

Hot Oven

HOW TO MAKE

I first of all rinsed the mince not too much as it breaks up and goes all mushy.

I then chopped up my onion, spring onion and garlic cloves.

I added all these ingredients into a bowl mixed and then I added my seasonings.

Once that was mixed in well I added in the egg white and breadcrumbs until it was all bonded together.

You can then start to shape then into little flat burger shapes.

I prepped mine the night before I layered them on a plate with cling film in between so I could freeze the rest.

I took my large frying pan and heated with a little bit of coconut oil so they wouldn’t stick.

Then I sealed my burgers for about 2-3 mins each side.

I then transferred them onto a baking tray with I lined with foil and put them in the oven for about 20 mins on about 180 c (which is about gas mark 4 so you can use higher).

Its down to you how long you want to cook them for if you want them crisper than leave them in longer.

SWEET POTATO CHIPS INGREDIENTS

2 to 3 large orange sweet potato  ( these tend to be less starchy than other types of sweet potato and taste so much better)

1 Tbsp Coconut oil

PREP TIME

10 mins to chop

20-30 minutes to cook

Cooking tools

Sharp knife

baking tray

Spatula

HOW TO MAKE

First of all you want to peel your sweet potato.

Then you need to chop in half and start to cut you chips you may need to cut each section in half again.

Once you have cut them into chip shapes you need to rinse then in cold water, then dry them with a paper towel.

Next take your baking tray and add a table-spoon of coconut oil on to the tray.

Put the tray in the oven so the coconut oil can melt, once that is done add the chips on the tray and coat in the oil.

Place in the oven and cook for about 20-30 minutes.

TIPS

If you are going to make both of these together, I suggest you prepare and the burgers the night before so that they are ready to be cooked.

Also cook the sweet potato chips first as they can take longer depending on your oven.

Then you can easily just put your burgers in the oven after.

Add some spinach, avocado tomato, cucumber and gherkins maybe.

Cayenne pepper sprinkled on your turkey burger is FAB.

So there you have it tasty, delicious and healthy take on burger and chips, who needs maccy d’s or burger king when you can have allllll of thissss 🙂

Its good to experiment in life because if you don’t you will never find new things!!
