Hand on heart I have been vegan for over 3 years now and I have not once in that time craved meat. When I turned vegan I didn’t jump straight to the meat substitutes because I was basically teaching myself how to eat again. So that meant preparing meals completely plant based without the need of meat like substitutes, but I was aware of them. As time has gone on I have experimented with things like veggie sausages, tofu and other soy products and even tried to recreate with veggies. These bbq cauliflower bites are just one of the creations that are delicious, saucy and so simple to make with not a chicken wing in sight. I promise you will enjoy….
Ingredients
1 head of cauliflower
1 cup of Spelt flour*
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp garlic powder
1 cup of plant milk (rice, almond etc)
1 cup of bbq sauce or franks hot sauce
1 tbsp coconut oil
how to make
1.preheat your oven to about 180 c and LINE A BAKING TRAY WITH GREASE-PROOF PAPER.
2.wash your head of cauliflower, break into florets and then cut the stalk of each piece off.
3.next grab a bowl add in the flour, seasonings and the milk but not all of it as you may not need it, mix till a smooth batter is formed.
4.coat each piece of cauliflower in the batter.
5.tap off any excess batter and place onto the greaseproof paper lined tray.
6.bake for about 15-20 mins turn them over half way and bake until tender.
7.while they are baking in a bowl add your bbq sauce or hot sauce & coconut oil heat and mix together, this can be done in the microwave or on the hob.
8.dip each piece of cauliflower in the sauce until coated then place back onto they tray.
9.put them back in the oven and bake for another 10-15 minutes.
10. i recommend highly leaving them in that little bit longer as this makes them even more crispy on the edges.
once done allow them to cool slightly before serving.
Tips
* I LIKE TO USE SPELT FLOUR BECAUSE I LIKE TO KEEP IT WHEAT FREE, YOU CAN ALSO USE GLUTEN FREE FLOUR OR USE ANY FLOUR OF YOUR CHOICE.
*USE ANY PLANT MILK OF YOUR CHOICE I USE RICE MILK, ALMOND MILK AND OAT MILK ALSO.
enjoy!
